Sony HVL F43M vs Nissin i40 on A6000

Sony NEX Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review - forums.dpreview.com
Hi all. I wonder if you can help. I am very new to flash and am comparing the Sony 43M flash against the Nissin i40. I have the Nissan i40 and realised that when the flash is NOT pointing straight forward towards the subject, the auto zoom does not work. i.e when you operate the zoom lens on the camera and the flash is any other position other than pointing straight forward, the zoom on the flash does not operate. This is as per the Nissin instructions. Does this also happen with the HVL F43M? I am trying to figure out of this is normal for flashes or just a limitation of the Nissan i40, which apparently defaults to the 50mm focal length position when in a rotated/bounce position.

Thanks for your help.
