Reduced price for Zeiss 135mm f/2 Apo Sonnar T* (classic) lens
I can't tell whether this is a price reduction by Zeiss or just B&H Photo. The price for the Zeiss 135mm f/2 Apo Sonnar T* (classic) lens was lowered by $823.00 for the Canon and $623.00 for the Nikon mounts. Probably because they just released the upgraded Milvus 135mm which sells for $2,199.
The all-metal body Zeiss 135mm is still considered one of the finest lenses ever built. However, the new Milvus brand has a nicer design and additional rubber seal on the rear mount for better dust/weather proofing that the "classic" design does not. My guess is that the new Milvus besides being more weatherproof also improves on CA with the updated lens coating.
It is a manual focus lens!
If you have been craving a Zeiss lens and were looking for a good opportunity to buy one, this might be it. These are excellent lenses to work with providing image quality and build quality that can't be topped.
Me? I'm still having a tough time deciding between the Zeiss 135 and Sigma's new Art 135 auto-focus for about the same price. In either case still not sure the additional reach over my Zeiss 100mm f/2 is worth it in either case.
The reduced price can be found at BH Photo.
