Disney in talks to buy 20th Century Fox!

Film Discussion - Forums @ The Digital Fix - forums.thedigitalfix.com
Disney haven't been shy to splash the cash recently buying Marvel, Pixar and Lucasarts but thet could be small fry to this deal...

For $48.5 billion Disney are negotiating a deal to buy 20th Century fox. Talks had taken place a few weeks ago and collapsed. Now whatever issues they had have been cleared and a deal is on the table. A yes or no from the Murdoch's is expected before Christmas.

Other studios are circling to take over if the Disney deal fails.

The 48.5 billion buys them...

20th Century?s Fox film and TV studio, the FX Networks and National Geographic cable group, Fox?s 30% stake in Hulu, and international TV platforms including Star India and its 39% interest in European satellite broadcaster Sky.

They aren't allowed to buy Fox news because Disney already own a news channel.

Now geek wise this means we might finally get a good Fantastic four film and an original re issue of a New Hope but it might also mean a massively scaled back production slate from Fox. (I can't imagine Disney being happy to make sub par cgi stuff like Ice Age.)
