Does anyone use a good with this lens, I see the jjc one around in various places, is it a lens that really needs it or will I be ok without it? For info it's going on holiday with me on a 60d thanks in advance

All you chaps out there who own/use Canon's "pancake" 40mm; do you use the lens hood dedicated for it? I've seen a picture of it and it hardly seems worth it as it is so small. I was thinking maybe of getting one of those collapsible rubber or silicone ones which, to me appear to be a better idea.
How important is the use of a lens hood on the Canon pancake 40mm 2.8 lens? I see that they are made for that lens. And I see that the lens is not receded anything like the that of the 50 1.8 Ii lens. Some felt that with the recessed optics of the 50mm lens, a hood was not necessary at all.So...
I have been thinking of getting this lens. Will it have enough coverage for film cameras, or has it been designed for EOS digital bodies?
