Assess a photo?

Beginner's Corner - www.amateurphotographer.co.uk
Hi,

I wonder if anyone would care to look over the linked(*) photo -- just a squirrel at the bottom of my garden -- and post a critique?

I'm more interested in an assessment of the cameras performance than my photography skills in this instance, though I'm more than happy to take constructive criticism of the shot --bearing in mind it was taken hand held at full zoom.

Basically, I'm new to the world of reasonable quality digital photography and would like pointers on what I should be looking for in the photos I take.

Thanks for your time.

Buk.
