Kodak - Kodak Ektar self-timer?

Lens Matters - www.amateurphotographer.co.uk
Hey everyone,

I got a new camera today and its got a Kodak Ektar 127mm f/4.7 lens and I was playing about with what is meant to be the self-timer lever but not having much joy. What I'm doing is cocking the lever then moving the cone shaped lever all the way round to under the M marking and not a lot happens. If i fire the shutter the little cone shape lever just moves back to where it normally sits and nothing happens. SO I guess I'm doing something wrong so any help would be great
