Nikon - Nikon Wednesday 2017: #19

This forum's moderators are allowing up to three Nikon Wednesday images per week, so share some work!?

As an interesting May surprise, we're having an off-schedule emergence of Brood X (or maybe Brood VI) of the local periodic Cicada population. The nymphs have been crawling up out of the ground (usually around tree roots), and doing their thing: they move up onto the trunk of the tree, then shed their current exterior, and become either their clumsily flying selves, or a very nice bird snack. A little later on, they'll start their truly astonishingly loud social symphony.

Here's one I spotted while out walking the dog tonight. It was working its way out of its older exoskeleton, and back-lit by my flashlight. Shot it with a Sigma 105/2.8 macro on a D810 with the ISO cranked up so I'd get a decent shutter speed. This nymph will spend most of the night getting used to his (or her?) new wings, and generally just stumbling around trying not to get eaten. Shot any unscheduled events? Share some photos, Nikon people - it's Wednesday!
