Epson R2400 driving me nuts!

Printers and Printing Forum: Digital Photography Review - forums.dpreview.com
I need some advice on my older Epson R2400 printer. I've spent the past two days reviewing older post on this subject to see if I can find an answer. Haven't found a cure yet.I bought this printer several years ago and never could get a good picture out of it. I'd play with it for a while and get frustrated with it and would let it sit. Back then I was using a different desktop with XP and CS3. Now that I'm retired, I'd like to try one more time to see what I'm doing wrong to get the wierd colors you see in the picture above. Naturally, the first picture is what it should look like and the second is what I'm getting. Now, I'm working in Windows 7 with updated driver files for the R2400 and CS3.Reading all the instructions and looking at suggestion in older post, I've tried printing with CS3 controlling color management and it turned off at the printer; I've tried letting the printer control color mangement and it turned off in CS3; and I tried having color management disabled in both CS3 and the printer and all three times I get the same printed results.I've calibrated my moniter and printer with Monaco EZColor and an OptixXR colorimeter (again, updated drivers). When I setup Soft Proofing in Photoshop with the printer profile, the screwed up picture is displayed.I think my problem is that I know just enough about color management to be dangerous but can't figure out what setting I have wrong or if the printer is messed up. I've got the same results with this printer hooked up to two different computers running XP and now Win7.Any suggestions as to where I should look next?
